  • Food, History of Park, Guided Walks, Yoga in Park
  • Free paddle and boat rentals
  • August 10, 2023 12-7pm
  • Cookout at 5pm
    • Free boats at 12-5
      • Keep a log during the time and we will reimburse.
    • SMORES at 6pm
  • Publix Catering, 46 people showed up
• 9/23/2023: National Public Lands Day with REI
  • What Volunteer Project? Alder Trail Reroute or brush clearing
• 10/4/2023: WIN Women in Nature Hike with Julie Higgie 10AM

1. REI Grant Follow-Up:
   1. Wayside display for climate change
      1. Approved, in production
   2. $2000 left in grant 
      1. $1300 planned for Sign
      2. ~$700 left to spend
         1. Option: Pay for fencing around the dumpsters
         2. Option: Use grant money to push for an aerator

 

1. Park Needs
   1. Search for Grant Opportunities to create multi-use paved trail alongside road from Visitor Center to Swim Beach

   1. Diversity to Parks
      1. ACTION ITEM: Reach out to diversity groups to schedule park events. When Reaching out Please CC Frances. 
         1. Vicki mentions outreach opportunities through REI. Ex. “Black Girls Hike”
         2. CHA in troutman… Heart Strings Association Contact Paula Miller (Stacy has her number) 
         3. Powercross in Statesville 
         4. Boys and Girls Club, contact Bradey Johnson the Director 

 

1. Project WET workshop free for teachers Nov. 11th 
   1. Email the park if they are interested. First come first serve can only take up to 15 people.
   2. Action Item: Promote this

 

1. Slightly Haunted Hike on 10/21 6-8pm
   1. Action Items: 
      1. Find local groups and businesses to hand out candy
      2. Look for volunteers to help with tabling 6-7pm
