Hello Friends of Lake Norman State Park and Supporters,
We will have our postponed March annual meeting on September 15 at 6:00 p.m. Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting will be held through some sort of online resource to be determined at our August 4 FLANO board meeting.
At the September virtual annual meeting, we will fill 3 officer positions (President, Vice President - now vacant, and Treasurer) and 2 board member seats.
Each position is a two-year term. Board meetings are normally the first Tuesday of each month.
Those presently in the occupied positions have agreed to run again.
Anyone who would like to be put in nomination for any of these positions should send an email with his or her name, the desired position, contact information, a brief bio, and info about interests in LNSP to email@example.com by July 31.
Any nominees should attend the August 4 meeting at 6:00 p.m. (Heron picnic shelter behind LNSP Visitors Center - bring your own bag chair and wear mask) so that board members can meet the nominees.
Ballots for open officer and board positions will be emailed to all current FLANO members on August 5. Votes must be received by September 5 to be counted.
According to Article 4 of the FLANO bylaws: "All members shall enjoy the same rights and privileges. Each member shall be entitled to vote on all matters presented to the membership at the annual meeting, including election of Officers and Directors. Each paid membership is entitled to one vote."
Those elected will be notified by email after votes are tabulated, no later than September 10. Those elected should attend the September 15 meeting in person for official announcement of election (at outdoor location - social distancing and masks required).
Also, if you have not joined or renewed your FLANO membership, we would appreciate your continued support! You must have a current membership with dues paid to vote.
We look forward to the time when we can resume all of our activities at the park!
We do have plans to finish our Invasive Species Eradication in two park areas on Friday, July 31, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Replanting of the two areas with native species plants, seeds, and trees will be on Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 26, 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Interested volunteers should meet in front of the Visitors Center. Wear masks, socially distance, and wear appropriate clothing for weather, work gloves, and sturdy shoes or boots. Please bring any tools that might be helpful (shovels, hoes, etc.) if you have them - we will have some available!
